AEW Dynamite’s January 17th edition witnessed a thrilling opening match as Christian Cage and Dustin Rhodes engaged in a legendary showdown.
The TNT Championship, the first of three titles contested that night, was on the line as Christian Cage defended his title against the experienced professional wrestling icon, Dustin Rhodes.
Dustin Rhodes sought to claim the TNT Championship, but as is customary, Christian Cage had allies by his side. Nick Wayne and Killswitch (formerly known as Luchasaurus) accompanied Cage, adding an extra layer of complexity to the contest.
Despite Rhodes’ determined efforts and the attempted interference by the duo at ringside, it was Nick Wayne and Killswitch who ended up on the receiving end of Rhodes’ impactful moves outside the ring.
The match, filled with suspense and near falls, concluded with Christian Cage emerging triumphant, successfully retaining the TNT Championship.
Post-match, Swerve Strickland took the spotlight in a backstage interview with Renee Paquette, confidently asserting his watchful presence throughout AEW. He specifically discussed the upcoming AEW World Championship clash between Samoa Joe and HOOK while expressing keen interest in Hangman Page.
