AEW Star Cash Wheeler: Legal Proceedings Update Post Arrest

Significant developments have emerged regarding Cash Wheeler, the AEW standout and former tag team champion, following his arrest on August 23, 2023.

Known off-screen as Daniel Wheeler, he voluntarily turned himself in to authorities on August 18 subsequent to an altercation on July 27 resulting in charges of aggravated assault with a firearm.

The incident, labeled as a “road rage type” encounter, allegedly involved Wheeler displaying a handgun at the purported victim, prompting a warrant issued on July 28. Wheeler entered a plea of not guilty on August 3.

Upon his surrender, Wheeler’s bond was established at $2500, with conditions mandating the surrender of any firearms within 12 hours post-release and a restraining order against the unfamiliar victim.

PW Insider’s report on February 1 revealed the decision to proceed with charges against Wheeler. Florida law stipulates aggravated assault with a firearm could entail penalties of up to five years’ incarceration, five years’ probation, and a $5,000 fine.

A hearing is scheduled for February 20.

Following last year’s arrest disclosure, AEW confirmed being informed of the charge and closely monitoring the situation, emphasizing Wheeler’s cooperation with local authorities.
