Backstage news about MJF wrestling with injuries

AEW

AEW World Heavyweight Champion of the AEW World Heavyweight MJF was injured in one of the major events in the Full Gear 2023 pay-per-view event during which he played 2 matches in Los Angeles at the Kia Forum and is not making time off.

What happened

MJF along with Samoa Joe beat The Gunns in the ROH Tag Team Title match during the pre-show. They then retained their World Heavyweight Title against Jay White in the main event. On the night, the wrestler suffered a hip injury during the main event and had to have to have it popped back into the ring after the show. In addition, the wrestler also sustained a severe shoulder injury that is an injury to the labrum.

He won’t miss any shows or plans for surgery to repair the tear in his labrum. He’s scheduled for a defense of his World Heavyweight Title against Joe at Worlds End later this month. Prior to that, MJF and Joe will fight two unknown opponents on Dynamite.

In the newest issue of Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer stated that MJF believes that he could make it through this with a little effort.

Meltzer wrote that “He isn’t going to undergo surgery and will instead be doing stem cell therapy and rehabilitation to prepare. Surgery could have kept him out for a few months. If he’ll be able to play an event between now and the time of surgery is unknown however, he is confident that it is possible to play a few careful matches or smoke and mirror matches prior to the TV show.”
