Fresh insights have surfaced regarding the former WWE star Sasha Banks, now recognized as Mercedes Mone, and her negotiations with WWE before her much-anticipated debut in AEW tonight.

There was a period when Mone, formerly known as Sasha Banks, was reportedly in discussions with WWE.

Following a severe ankle injury suffered during the NJPW Strong Women’s Championship match against Willow Nightingale, Mone underwent multiple surgeries, prompting concerns about her future in wrestling.

During her recovery phase, as detailed by Fightful Select, Mone engaged in talks with both All Elite Wrestling and WWE, hinting at ongoing negotiations between the two parties.

Despite attending All In in August without a formal agreement with AEW, there was a mutual understanding of a potential collaboration. However, talks with AEW fell through, leading to discussions about a possible return to WWE. Unfortunately, no agreement was reached between Mone and WWE.

Sources within WWE, as reported by Fightful Select, described the discussions as amicable, with WWE extending best wishes to Mone for her future endeavors. However, it was expected that she would soon sign elsewhere.

Ultimately, Mone opted to sign with All Elite Wrestling well before her scheduled debut tonight, March 13, in Boston.

While there was speculation about her debut in January, AEW chose to postpone it due to concerns about her medical clearance several months earlier.
