Booker T comments on Roman Reigns’ schedule.
In the most recent “Hall of Fame” podcast, Booker T was asked his opinion about Roman Reigns’ 22 matches this year thus that far WWE. Roman has been defending his title 11 times since 2024. Some social media users have been critical of WWE for not removing this belt away from Roman.
Booker stated, “You know, people are going to find something to complain about all the time. I think one of the biggest complaints was the guys work too much. One of the biggest complaints is they need a season. They need to have an off-season just like basketball. How many times have we heard that?”
“I think that you and I could take a trip back to the past times and think about what number of times Hogan was on TV in an entire calendar year. It could have been smaller than that, but nobody was more popular in stature than Hogan.”
“Just take a moment to think about this. Do you think of that a boxer is boxing 22 times in the course of a year, or an MMA fighter who fights 22 times in the course of a year? Twenty-two times is quite enough. This is how I see it.”
“So I consider the advantages and disadvantages of it. If Roman didn’t sell any tickets, then we could have a discussion. If he weren’t one of the top performers on TV You know, and the question is how cool is it? Sure, it’s cooling down. What’s happened? Nearly four years? It’s a joke. I am talking about Larry Holmes had the World Heavyweight Championship for eight years. You wouldn’t think that it died off after, say certain years, and fans were all like”Man, I can’t just wait to see this guy take on.’ What do you think? Therefore, I take a look at the advantages and disadvantages of this kind of situation.”
“The people who might be upset with this haven’t done it. They’ve never tried it, and they don’t even know. They aren’t aware of the circumstances, as you can imagine the things that are happening behind the scenes and with Roman Reigns with the WWE or this business.”
“If you claimed that he’s seen television for 22 occasions, it could be something however, you’ve just stated you’ve worked for him 22 times. My point is that fans are sometimes just would like to meet you. I recently received a call from a man who is from New York who just called me just a few minutes ago while we were having a break. He asked me “Hi Book I’m having a show coming in February. We’d love to have you show up’. You think that fans want to watch me perform? They would like to be able to watch me. This is why they are often you’ll find that when you don’t begin to think about yourself as wrestlers, you could be slammed to the exit of the ring.”
