Early estimate for AEW Full Gear 2023 PPV buys looking strong

AEW Full Gear drew solid numbers.

AEW

AEW showcased their Full Gear event from the Kia Forum in Los Angeles this month. The event was accompanied by an unloaded card. It was a huge success in pay-per-view.

The show

AEW The President of AEW Tony Khan noted coming out of the event when speaking to the media following the event that the event was expected to bring in more than 100,000 dollars in purchases and was likely to finish ahead of Wrestle Dream. The trend is promising.

Full Gear was dominated by MJF who retained title to the World Heavyweight Title over Jay White. The event also saw the addition of the top NJPW Will Osprey to AEW, Swerve Strickland defeating “Hangman” Adam Page in a classic Texas Death match, and Toni Storm defeating Hikaru Shida to claim her record-breaking 3rd AEW Women’s World Title.

The numbers

In the newest issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer stated that the number of television purchases at the moment are up 31.2 percent over Wrestle Dream last October.

Meltzer wrote “But about 135,000 [total] buys looks a reasonable estimate at this point, could be a little higher or lower.”

The jump from the beginning week to the second week of purchases of TV was an increase of 36.3 percent rise.
