While Chris Jericho’s AEW World Tag Team Champion bid is still in doubt after Kenny Omega’s struggle with diverticulitis Chris Jericho has had plenty to keep him busy and has recently traveled to Vietnam. In Vietnam, Jericho made a surprise appearance at his Vietnamese promotions Vietnam Pro Wrestling which was something which came up when Jericho was inspired to create an documentary on wrestling in Vietnam after speaking to VPW promoters on his show “Talk is Jericho.”
As Jericho stated in an interview on “WFAA,” it was the appearance on the podcast that prompted Jericho to think about the subject more thoroughly, given that his prior knowledge of Vietnam was limited to Vietnam War and movies on the topic.
“After the podcast was over, [I was] kind of listening to what they went through to get it started, and the passion they had,” Jericho told me. “They did not have a ring for wrestling initially, they competed in mats. I found an interesting documentary there, and I’ve also done several documentaries thus far…So the guys were there around ten days earlier than I was there, however, I knew that I had to go.
“We didn’t even know what capacity, but while I was there, we came up with the ending of the documentary. It’s going to be very cool, very heartwarming, and it’s going to once again show that pro wrestling is this entity that is worldwide. It’s not just here in the States, it’s not just in Canada, it’s everywhere. And it makes people happy and gives them a chance to live their dreams, no matter what country you happen to be born in. And I just thought ‘That’s a story I wanted to tell.'”
