John Cena Reflects on Resemblances Between His WWE Character and DC's Superman

In a segment on The Impaulsive Podcast, John Cena gave an fascinating description of his character’s development throughout his time in WWE.

Cena stated:

“We talked during the drive about defining yourself in a sentence or perhaps just the smallest of words. John Cena in the WWE existence is easy to define: Superman. I don’t mean that I’m more powerful than everyone else I’m better than trains, more powerful than a bullet.

“I refer to Superman is pure and virtuous, Superman has a moral code of conduct, Superman may be in conflict however when he’s in conflict, the North Star is his moral code and his virtues. Your body language affects your appearance and your voice. “Logan” was saying ‘I don’t know if you’re on script or not on script’. I, since you simply go out feeling the vibe.”

In the next paragraph, he goes further to explain how the constant issue of being too good’ afflicts the two of them John Cena and his DC superhero counterpart, Cena said:

“Now in the past there’s been a change in Superman. Superman of 2012 Superman of 2012 was a man who wanted CM Punk winning the title because everybody was sick of winning. They were tired of Superman which is the problem that will never go away with Superman He’s way too good.

“Now is an old Superman who is staring at the mirror and saying “I used to be this, but I’m not anymore and what do I look like currently? I’m trying to find out. How can we tell? (that he’s not Homelander). I’m trying to determine this and I’m in need of your assistance. “Hey guys, I’m not sure what time I have left’. I determine their curiosity from this. If they’re saying “Get the f**k out” I do know how much time I’ve got left, and it’s right now.”

As he went on to explain more, Cena described how the change in his character has been re-imagined when he is presenting himself with the same authenticity as ever.

John Cena said of our ability to finally feel his presence:

“It’s enjoyable to experiment with the dynamic of running that show, as did the evolution of Doctor of Thuganomics It was a swift transition to the rap star and then an uphill climb to the moral Superman persona that was ‘the face of WWE and then it was a long stretch of time that the Superman was very successful. Now I appeared on TV and stated that I had not been able to win a singles event in over 3000 days.

“So you can answer that question. The person who is sitting in front of the camera is my. The person that you see on the screen in WWE is more like me than ever was before in its entirety. I’m not sure what the future holds and I’m not sure whether I need to move the character or the story elsewhere.”
