Kurt Angle Emerges from Retirement for WWE Return

WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle has shared his perspective on the idea of making a wrestling comeback, highlighting the tendency of some of his peers to return to the ring multiple times.

Angle bid farewell to his in-ring career at WrestleMania 35 in 2019 after a loss to Baron Corbin. In a recent appearance at Steel City Con, he candidly discussed why he hasn’t entertained the idea of returning, stating:

“When I came back to WWE in 2017, it felt like the right moment for me. I was inducted into the Hall of Fame, but I wasn’t the same wrestler I used to be, and that’s why I decided to retire. I felt I had lost a step, and I didn’t want fans to remember me as a worn-down old wrestler. So, I retired early and stayed away from the ring.”

Angle expressed his reluctance to follow the path of some wrestlers, like Ric Flair and Terry Funk, who frequently came out of retirement. He emphasized that this approach is not for him:

“There are wrestlers who keep coming back, like Ric Flair and Terry Funk, who, when he was alive, had around 30 retirement matches. But that’s not me. I won’t be doing that. I won’t step foot in the ring again unless I’m cutting a promo.”

While confirming his ongoing contract with WWE, the Olympic Gold Medalist mentioned his involvement in specific events with the company. He acknowledged the possibility of being utilized for the Royal Rumble or WrestleMania 40 this year, maintaining his stance on not returning to in-ring competition.
