In the most recent episode of the “Kurt Angle Show” podcast, Kurt revealed that he is scheduled to undergo neck surgery before the start of the year. Angle has been battling numerous injuries over the many years. The most serious neck problems resulted from his fractured neck during the Olympics and also due to beatings in the ring competing in WWE as well as TNA Wrestling.

“I suffer from a variety of motor-related issues however, just to let you’re aware, I’m going to undergo neck surgery in the beginning of next year.” Angle said. “They’re going to put in artificial discs, which will aid those hands right here (his hands). I’m not able to grasp things and things tend to slip from my hands and slide off. I’m terrible at motor control. They said that my arms are weak, because they atrophied 3 inches in each, and there is no muscles in my arms, this is totally smooth (between the thumb of his fingers) The thumb and finger should have muscle the area, but it was deteriorating. It has atrophied. If I receive these discs made of rubber (or discs) replaced, they’ll help to open the nerves to allow them to travel through my arm, allowing me to will have greater circulation. The time to recover is two weeks.”

Kurt also discussed the reasons he initially refused the multi-year deal to join WWE back in the year 1996. Kurt has spoken about the fact that he was not experienced with professional wrestling and felt that wrestling was the only sport he could compete at the Olympics and professional wrestling was not for him. When he was invited for attend an ECW program, Kurt eventually signed with WWE for a lower price and believed it would pay more money if he proved that he was Vince McMahon.

“They offered me a half-million dollars over 10 years but I declined,” Angle said. “So after I had tried to work for them a few years after, they told me “Hey, we’re going to offer you an agreement. It’s not going excellent. We’ll provide you with a $75,000 contract to begin.’ I thought, ‘Okay, what can I do to earn more than this?’ They replied, ‘Well, If you progress up the ladder and end up in an event that is the biggest, then you’ll make more’. So my first year, I made 500 million dollars, most likely in the first four months of the industry. After my first month I was thrust onto the stage. I was main-evening all of the time. This meant I made about $1.4 million during my first year of wrestling. I was guaranteed only $75,000. My highest number of dollars totaled $3.2 million. It was my third year in a row with Stone Cold Steve Austin beginning with him in the year I beat him up for the world title.”
