NJPW starlets Great-O-Khan and HENARE have been rumored to be in the running to win championship gold at the ROH in the Final Battle of 2023.
Ring of Honor is set to stage their last pay-per-view event in 2023, with Final Battle 2023 on Friday, December 15th in Garland, Texas.
In advance of the event, two-thirds of The ROH World Six-Man Team Champion Kaun along with Toa Liona from The Gates of Agony took the trip to Japan to participate in Japan’s NJPW World Tag League 2023 tournament.
On the 3rd of December at the World Tag League show, Great-O Khan of the United Empire along with HENARE were able to defeat Gates of Agony in the A Block of the tournament. After the match, the United Empire stole the duo’s ROH World Six-Man Titles and taunted them.
In the after-match interviews backstage, The Great-O-Khan made an ultimatum at the Mogul Embassy. Mogul Embassy to defend the ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Titles against United Empire. To add to this, HENARE said:
“What do you mean by this? ROH Six-Man World Tag Team Championship? ROH, AEW, you took something I’ve always wanted and are now changing it into the Triple Crown defended by guys who haven’t wrestled outside America however they do have the courage to proclaim themselves World Champions ?”
“I know all you Americans, you think your country is the center of the world, all your Hollywood movies, the global community when it’s just America, Canada, England.”
“No, I’m in the world. I’m Mongolian. I’m a Hawaiian an Italian and a Filipino and a few Aussies and British. We could choose any of them. Anyone we pick. Anyone who wants the same thing. .”
“I was anticipating you throughout the entire trip and we defeated you. We are kings, and we are warriors. If you’re feeling good about it, let’s pound over and over,”
In the aftermath, Gates of Agony sent an email to their current opponents in NJPW. Kaun said:
“At this moment in the war and fight, we are not going to ever fall. We are fighting as if our lives depend on this. .”
“We fighting for pride at this point, and we’re gonna make sure that the United Empire and whoever’s next is gonna have to give everything that they have in their bodies, everything that they have in their souls, they’re going to leave depleted if they want to defeat us.”
“I declared that we will take on our enemies, the United Empire, we will break them apart, and we will fight the journeymen. In the end, we are an unfortunate victim of circumstance .”
“We face one faction after another, but yet we stand on our own two feet. If you didn’t observe what we’ve done or only look at the things they offered you don’t know what’s coming up,”
Toa Liona then followed by taking his title and telling him, “You want, come take,” before sending a second message to Great-O-Khan.
