Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D., a prominent figure in the AEW Women’s Division, has designated Julia Hart as her ‘Rookie of the Year’ for the year 2023.
Following a significant transformation in her character post-Double or Nothing 2022 and culminating in her victory as the TBS Champion at Full Gear 2023, Julia Hart has experienced a remarkable ascent in her career.
During a recent interview with Ring the Belle, Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D., expressed her admiration for Julia Hart, identifying her as one of her favorites and dubbing her the ‘rookie of the year.’ Dr. Baker specifically acknowledged the challenging nature of Hart’s character evolution, describing it as a formidable task.
Recalling their initial encounter in the ring, Dr. Baker shared, “I think especially Julia Hart, I would pick her as my favorite, my rookie of the year I guess, just because it’s a hard task, that character jump that she went from. When I wrestled her, I might have been her first, one of her first, if not her first matches on AEW. It was a Dynamite match, and I think it was maybe 30 seconds, maybe.”
Highlighting the uniqueness of Hart’s earlier persona as a cheerleader, Dr. Baker acknowledged the intriguing shift in her character. She emphasized the considerable commitment required to fully embrace such a transformation, stating, “And now look at this character that she is now, and it takes a lot to really go all in on that because if people don’t believe you believe what you’re doing, you’re not selling that to anybody. But she’s all in on it, and her in-ring skills have significantly improved, but it’s the character.”
Dr. Baker stressed the pivotal role of character in winning over the audience, noting, “That’s what’s gonna win the people over more because you want them to care about your matches before you have the match, and if you can get that, cross that bridge, that’s half the battle.”
