Santos Escobar Admits Spontaneity in WWE Survivor Series 2023 Match Confession

Santos Escobar has returned to his heel roots in “WWE NXT” on the main roster that has seen him fight with previous Latino World Order members. Escobar recently wrestled with Dragon Lee at Survivor Series: War Games where he won for a second time to keep his heel war and also said to Freddie Prinze Jr. on his “Wrestling With Freddie” podcast that he had strayed off the and tore Lee’s mask.

“That was 100% non-scripted. That was just the heel in me and I think it’s important that our audiences get that feel. Because now we have Dragon Lee, now we have Axiom, now we have Rey [Mysterio], now we have more and more people diving into the Lucha culture, but like really, really doing it,” Escobar stated. “The mask, the tradition, the respect that’s behind the mask. And so it’s important that our audiences know that for a fact, when someone goes with the mask, goes against the mask, it means something. It ups the stakes.”

In the course of the fight, Escobar ripped Lee’s mask in the face, but the wrestler eventually kept the mask covering his face to conceal his identity. Escobar was awed by his fellow Survivor Series crowd in Chicago and stated that Chicago is similar to Mexico in terms of how enthusiastic the fans are. He claimed that when he ripped Lee’s face, he felt his “white heat.”

Lee graciously took over for Carlito who was knocked out two times by Escobar and was “injured” on an episode of “WWE SmackDown.” Instead of cancelling the match, Lee told “SmackDown” General Manager Nick Aldis he would fight Escobar.

Escobar has been part of the tournament to have a shot for the Logan Paul United States Championship and is scheduled to take on Bobby Lashley in the semi-finals.
