In a recent interview with Bootleg Kev, AEW’s Swerve Strickland delved into his experiences collaborating with the esteemed CM Punk, offering fans a glimpse into their dynamic behind the scenes. Strickland’s reflections shed light on the camaraderie and mutual respect shared between the two wrestling icons.

While CM Punk’s title defense against Samoa Joe took center stage at AEW All In London, it was an unexpected backstage altercation with Jack Perry that made headlines, resulting in Punk’s departure from All Elite Wrestling.

Despite limited on-screen interactions, both Punk and Strickland were part of an electrifying All-Star tag team match leading up to All In London. Strickland, reflecting on his time with Punk, expressed gratitude for the invaluable lessons learned.

“My last TV match was against him during the All-Star tag match on Collision,” Strickland revealed. “Although our on-screen interactions were brief, I treasured every moment shared with him.”

Recalling Punk’s spontaneous photobomb during his photo session, Strickland shared, “It was a simple yet meaningful gesture that instantly made me feel welcomed. He had a knack for fostering a positive atmosphere.”

Even during formal occasions such as contract signings, Punk’s supportive nature resonated with Strickland. “His encouragement and positivity were infectious,” he noted.

While Punk’s return to WWE at Survivor Series 2023 was met with great fanfare, his comeback was cut short due to a torn triceps injury suffered during his match at WWE Royal Rumble 2024.
