Top name being considered for Roman Reigns’ WWE Royal Rumble opponent

WWE is currently discussing plans for Roman Reigns.

WWE

Roman Reigns will be back on WWE television sooner than originally was expected, prior to the WWE Undisputed WWE Universal Title defend at Royal Rumble.

Things are always changing

It was initially believed that the WWE would not air for the remainder of the year. He would return to television to begin the build-up to The Royal Rumble on Saturday, January 27, 2024 coming from Tampa, FL, at Tropicana Field following the final match. The month before, He beat LA Knight to keep title Undisputed WWE Universal Title in Saudi Arabia.

As we previously reported, WWE was not considering an opportunity to rematch Knight as well as Reigns in the Royal Rumble.

The future

WWE has announced Reigns as a guest on SmackDown shows on the 15th of December in Green Bay, WI, January 5, in Vancouver, BC, and the 19th of January on the 19th of January in Atlanta, GA.

In the most recent edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer stated that earlier in the week no opponent was locked into. But, one of the top names being looked at would be Randy Orton. Meltzer suggested it could be Kevin Owens and Knight could be names that are thought of.

Meltzer wrote “A handful of names were thought of, with Orton as one of the names. Orton, Owens and Knight might appear on paper to be the most popular names, but they aren’t locks and Knight was expected to move in a different direction the week before.”
