AEW first presented the Devil character to the public with MJF last year during All Out to claim an AEW World Title shot prior to declaring that he was the person behind the mask. The title was later won against Jon Moxley after CM Punk was removed from the title.
In the last few times, The Devil has re-emerged with a vengeance against Jay White, The Acclaimed The Acclaimed, and Billy Gunn. White has been battling MJF while the babyfaces have teamed with MJF on the television.
Fans remain engrossed in questions without answers on the Devil. There’s been rumors that the person who is identified as being under the mask isn’t performing the role right now. WWE has done this with their Retribution group a few years ago.
Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select said that a number of employees of the company are aware of the identities of the actors who played the character in the past, but have managed to keep the information secret.
People they spoke to believed that it’s the real CM Punk and “it would be a huge work on those in the know if so.” Additionally it was reported that Dr. Britt Baker DMD, was found to not be a fake.
