Vince McMahon once wanted Teddy Long to turn heel and make Booker T the GM of WWE SmackDown

Booker T almost became the WWE SmackDown GM

WWE

The WWE Hall of Famer announced during SportsMed the Wrestle Binge Teddy Long that Booker T was close to becoming as the general manager for WWE SmackDown at one point:

“One time they were going to turn me heel. They finally convinced Vince to do that. He didn’t want to do it and they were going to make Booker T the GM of SmackDown. That’s when I started teasing a little bit when me and Michael Cole, when I did color commentary with him he said something that Booker said about me and I’d look at him and said, ‘Booker said that’, but that never happened.”

Teddy Long’s thoughts on the Sgt. Craig Pittman in WCW:

“He was ok. I don’t believe that he was a good judge of this industry and he didn’t really understand it. However, it was a really gentleman in my opinion. It’s true, he could not have been more nice. I wished he’d thought of it, because he could have been a great guy man. It was a real talent and didn’t realize that. When he quit WCW and thought the end was near. He didn’t follow an active career with WWF following that. Perhaps he didn’t really want it. Do you know what I’m talking about? It might never have been his style however he was a legit. He was certainly great and he was certainly a gangster.”
