Will Ospreay received a massive offer from another promotion before signing with AEW

Will Osprey could have gone to another place.

AEW

Will Osprey had to make an important decision prior to early 2024, when the contract he signed in New Japan Pro Wrestling came due. There was a lot of organizations that were expected to bid for his services which included WWE, AEW, and Impact Wrestling.

The build-up

Osprey was reported to have informed New Japan Pro Westling that they was not likely to renew his contract after a long time where he had a lot of successes. At Full Gear earlier this month, Osprey announced that he had signed a multi-year contract with AEW.

This was a major win to All Elite Wrestling, considering they were competing with WWE and other promotions of Osprey. It also came a few several months following Jade Cargill left AEW for WWE.

The deal

PW insider claims to have been informed Impact Wrestling was very much in the race to get Ospreay and that the promotion led to an “fantastic, massive offer.” The Impact source claimed that it was probably the largest deal made to one individual since Anthem acquired the ownership of the company. It was an “seven-figure level offer.”
