Fans had been eagerly awaiting Batista’s Hall of Fame speech since his inclusion in the class of 2020 was announced. However, due to the unforeseen circumstances brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic, the ceremony was postponed.

Before the rescheduled ceremony in March 2021, Batista revealed that prior commitments prevented him from being part of the class.

In an interview with Comicbook, Batista was posed with the question of what would likely happen first: his induction into the WWE Hall of Fame or his involvement in James Gunn’s DC cinematic universe.

Batista disclosed that discussions regarding his Hall of Fame induction had been ongoing and mentioned that plans for him to join the class of 2023 were ultimately scrapped.

He elaborated, stating, “It’s hard to say for sure. But based on our discussions, it’s more probable to be the WWE Hall of Fame. I was slated for induction last year, but filming obligations in South Africa made it unfeasible.”

In January 2023, Batista had previously announced his filming commitments in South Africa for the sequel to his 2020 spy comedy film, “My Spy 2”.

Rey Mysterio, a prominent figure in the WWE, led the class of 2023 for the Hall of Fame.

Regarding future prospects, Batista mentioned that he has yet to engage in discussions about potential roles in DC Studios productions with James Gunn.

Gunn, renowned for directing Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy, in which Batista portrayed Drax, is now heavily involved in shaping DC Studios’ revamped cinematic universe.
