In an unexpected turn of events, NXT’s Carmelo Hayes appeared on SmackDown, participating in a backstage segment where he sought a Royal Rumble spot from Nick Aldis.

As the situation unfolded, old rival Grayson Waller and Austin Theory, a close associate, joined the scene, leading Aldis to arrange a match between Hayes and Theory.

The match did not conclude with a clear winner as the referee intervened following a significant move.

After both competitors descended from the ropes and landed in what seemed like precarious positions, the referee made the decision to immediately stop the match.

In an official update from WWE, it has been confirmed that both Carmelo Hayes and Austin Theory have undergone evaluations and are reported to be in good health.

WWE’s Twitter update reads:

“UPDATE: Following their match tonight on #SmackDown, @_Theory1 and @Carmelo_WWE were evaluated for injuries. They both suffered face contusions, and will both be okay.”
